ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ronald M. Hirano, a deaf Nikkei, was adopted and raised by Delight Rice when his family became interned in relocation camps during World War II. He has written, designed, and edited newsletters and books, and has served on the boards of local, regional, and national organizations working with Deaf people. He and his wife Kay make their home in San Francisco.
